Every team member has the opportunity to leave a direct and lasting impact as we strive to become the leading company in better textiles.Definition:Researching and developing our patented Sheertex materials as well as optimizing them for use in our performance textile products. You will be applying scientific processes to develop existing and novel high performance polymers. You will support the manufacturing engineering team by providing new formulations, innovating on production methods, establishing key performance parameters and researching new materials to test. You will develop techniques to optimize new and existing polymers to add functionality, versatility and sustainability, You will support the testing lab by establishing testing methods and ensuring the materials are providing the expected performance. You will also assist in troubleshooting material quality in fiber production, post processing and garment productionWhat the Polymer Materials Scientist will do:Develop and improve the formulation and development of new polymers/materialsLead multifilament fiber process development optimization and troubleshooting - lab and production scale.Contribute to novel techniques for processing and optimizing high performance materials and their compositionDevelop and execute trials to establish production parameters, create technical specifications and define subsequent testing performance parameters.Provide, support and transfer product knowledge to the manufacturing team and QC for all materials produced.Perform intellectual property research for any new developments in materials, processing methods and/or functionality. Contribute to IP development for materials and processes.Perform and establish material/polymer processing and testing methods for all steps of the material life cycle according to established ASTM and AATCC standardsCollaborate with plant management on capital projects to ensure proper process design and equipment specificationQualifications:Bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree in material science, polymer science, fiber/textile engineering or chemistry.Experience with polymer synthesis, processing and testing methods.
