About the RoleThe Financial Controller will assume responsibility for the accounting function. This person will be responsible for overseeing financial statement preparation, supporting budgeting and forecasting, developing internal control policies and procedures and optimizing our working capital. Canary’s Financial Controller will play a critical role in scaling our financial operations and ensuring the integrity of our financial information. This role reports to the VP of Finance.ResponsibilitiesExecute a timely and accurate month-end close process in order to meet financial reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders.Assume responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the trial balance and preparation of monthly financial statements.Evaluate existing internal processes and procedures and make improvements as needed in order to safeguard revenue receipts, expenditures and company assets Collaborate with the HR and Operations for AP/AR/billing, payroll, collections, and disbursements.Responsible for accurately projecting, reporting and managing cash flow.Support the budget process by reviewing and consolidating department budget proposals into the company budget along with analyzing variance of actual performance to budgetTake responsibility for the annual audit including planning, coordination, execution and report preparation.Ensure compliance with local, state and federal government regulations and ensure timely tax filings.Oversee and manage insurance provider relationships and renewals.Manage a small team (internal and external).QualificationsB.S. in Accounting required (CPA preferred)6-8 years’ experience in progressive experience in accounting and financeStrong knowledge of GAAP reporting standards, some international experienceTeam management experienceProficient in financial software and ERP systems; experience with both Quickbooks, Netsuite as well as billing management softwareAbility to handle multiple projects and meet deadlinesSoftware industry experience is a plusCanary Technologies is an equal opportunity employer.
