Account Executive & Growth - Utilities
at Computational Theoretical Chemist II
About Nira Energy
- Nira's mission is to help convert the US power grid to be 100% fossil-free.
- We are profitable!
- Nira is a software platform that helps renewable energy developers find the cheapest points on the grid to connect.
- We focus on estimating the cost to interconnect with the electrical grid (aka the Interconnection Process). Depending on where developers connect, they may be on the hook to pay millions of dollars to upgrade power lines, substations etc.
About The Role
As an Account Executive &
Growth, Utilities at Nira, you will drive both new business and account
expansion within the utility sector. You will own the full sales cycle—from
identifying high-potential prospects and engaging them, to presenting Nira’s
value, closing deals, and expanding revenue with existing customers. You’ll
become a subject-matter expert in transmission planning, positioning Nira as a
strategic advantage for utilities aiming to improve their transmission
planning processes and studies.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex customer problems, is deeply curious about the grid, and is passionate about shaping the future of energy transition.
What You'll Do
- Prospect and engage utility organizations to initiate discussions about how Nira can benefit their transmission planning and grid analysis workflows.
- Lead conversations with utility stakeholders to uncover business needs, present Nira solutions, and define meaningful next steps to maintain momentum.
- Employ effective business development tactics to shorten long sales cycles.
- Develop and present measurable business cases and ROI scenarios for utility partners.
- Build and manage multi-stakeholder relationships with utility leaders across departments (e.g., Transmission Planning, IT, Legal, Commercial).
- Develop and validate proof-of-concept (POC) programs to demonstrate Nira automation capabilities to utility leaders.
- Create tailored solutions based on customer needs and facilitate complex discussions with technical and non-technical buyers.
- Address objections and demonstrate Nira’s value through compelling use cases and demonstrations.
- Own the end-to-end sales cycle: prospect, qualify, demo, negotiate, and close.
- Develop clear proposals and statements of work (SOWs) that articulate objectives, functionality, KPIs, and next steps.
- Translate POCs into scalable product subscriptions with utility teams.
- Monitor user feedback and maintain a pulse on client satisfaction to support retention and expansion.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Transmission Planners, Software Engineers, and Product) to align on customer needs and product direction.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, track pipeline, and forecast with discipline.
- Communicate credibly with technical and non-technical buyers alike.
- Stay informed on transmission planning regulations and market structures across US jurisdictions.
About You
- 5+ years of experience in energy or utility business development; startup experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of utility business dynamics and, ideally, transmission planning frameworks.
- You love building relationships, own your work, and are motivated by outbound prospecting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can navigate technical discussions with confidence.
- Self-motivated, organized, and thrives in fast-moving environments.
- Passionate about accelerating the energy transition and delivering measurable impact.
- Persistent, resourceful, and coachable; you thrive with ambiguity and can adapt quickly.
- Comfortable engaging with executive and technical stakeholders, including cross-functional teams.
- Ability to articulate value in terms of business outcomes and measurable KPIs.
- Knowledge of regulatory processes and market dynamics in the US is a plus.
