The Hartford currently has an in-house remote opportunity for a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate Workers' Compensation cases. This position is an ideal fit for an experienced Attorney with significant trial and litigation experience in Illinois, with additional experience in Indiana and/or Wisconsin a plus. The Senior Staff Attorney will strive to deliver the best possible results in pending litigation. In this position the Senior Attorney reports to the Assistant Managing Attorney. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Attorney with considerable trial experience and demonstrates the ability to independently handle cases from inception through trial.
RESPONSBILITIES:
• Handle complex and high exposure workers' compensation litigation
• Analyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues,
conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and
present defense strategies on behalf of clients
• Prepare pleadings, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense
strategies without supervision because of level of experience and expertise
• Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and
other services to clients and claims customers on legal and factual issues in
a technology driven environment
• Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial
and administrative hearings and alternative dispute resolutions
• Provide opinions to Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, staff,
clients and claims customers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited law school and license to practice in
good standing in the State of Illinois, with Indiana and/or Wisconsin licenses
a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of legal experience in Workers Compensation Litigation
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Demonstrated expertise and familiarity in the handling of claim cases and
litigation

This position is a remote work opportunity; however, our selected candidate
will travel for appearances at assigned venues as needed.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$132,400 - $198,600
