Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is growing.

Following the success of our flagship Marietta, GA specialty and emergency hospital, we are proud to announce the opening of our second location in Dunwoody, Georgia , scheduled to open in October 2026.

We are actively building our founding Surgery team and are seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians , Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) , Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) , and highly skilled Veterinary Assistants with backgrounds in Emergency Medicine , Surgery , Anesthesia , or Specialty Care.

Selected candidates will begin onboarding and training at our established Marietta hospital beginning August-September 2026 , providing the unique opportunity to train alongside experienced specialists, surgeons, and emergency clinicians before transitioning into our brand-new Dunwoody facility.

Your Role: Advanced Surgery Support

As a Surgical Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting complex surgical procedures and advanced patient care.

Surgical Nursing and Procedural Support

  • Prepare patients for surgery and advanced procedures
  • Assist surgeons during specialty and referral-level procedures
  • Maintain sterile technique and surgical suite readiness
  • Support efficient surgical workflow and patient safety initiatives
  • Assist with instrumentation, patient positioning, and intraoperative nursing care


Advanced Anesthesia Management

  • Perform anesthesia induction and patient preparation
  • Monitor anesthesia utilizing ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, blood pressure monitoring, temperature monitoring, and advanced anesthetic protocols
  • Manage ventilated patients and high-risk anesthetic cases
  • Recognize and respond to anesthetic changes in real time
  • Support safe patient recovery and post-operative monitoring


Clinical Excellence and Patient Advocacy

  • Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Maintain detailed anesthesia and treatment records
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, specialists, emergency clinicians, and nursing teams
  • Deliver exceptional patient care throughout the surgical experience

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should be able to:

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday
  • Lift, carry, and assist in restraining patients weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance available when appropriate
  • Safely handle animals of varying sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical conditions
  • Perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity, including patient restraint, venipuncture, medication administration, and equipment operation
  • Work in a fast-paced specialty veterinary hospital environment with frequent movement between treatment, exam, and specialty care areas
  • Communicate effectively with clients, specialists, veterinarians, and team members

This position may involve exposure to:

  • Animal dander, fur, saliva, and other animal-related allergens
  • Chemotherapy agents and hazardous drug handling environments
  • Cleaning products, disinfectants, and veterinary medical chemicals
  • Medical odors, fragrances, and hospital-related environmental conditions
  • Noise associated with veterinary patient care and hospital operations

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a surgical, specialty, or high-volume veterinary setting
  • Strong background in anesthesia monitoring and surgical nursing
  • Experience with advanced monitoring equipment and ventilators
  • High level of confidence working in a fast-paced surgical environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credentials
  • Experience in orthopedic or specialty surgery
  • Advanced training in anesthesia or surgical nursing
  • RECOVER CPR certification
