MacKay is seeking a Survey Instrument Person to support our field operations team in Vancouver, WA. This field-based role assists the Survey Party Chief in performing land surveying duties, operating survey instruments, and collecting accurate field data that supports engineering, land development, and construction projects.

You’ll be an integral part of a team that helps shape communities, working outdoors, ensuring high-quality, precise survey data, and representing MacKay values of Honesty, Dedication, and Relationships in every task.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain a variety of survey instruments, including GPS, Trimble total stations, and data collectors.
  • Collect accurate field data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Set up, operate, and adjust instruments under the direction of the Survey Party Chief.
  • Record and check field notes, measurements, and other documentation.
  • Assist in establishing horizontal and vertical control points.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and field procedures.
  • Support efficient project completion by maintaining communication with the Survey Party Chief and office staff.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail.
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive company vehicles is required.
  • Travel to and stay at project locations in multiple states on rare occasions.
  • During site visits, must be able to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist and work outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely. Site visits may include exposure to weather extremes and rough or uneven terrain.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicable survey experience preferred but not required.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

US Pay Range
$20$30 USD

Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefit package including access to our company-sponsored Medical (including an HSA High Deductible option), Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. We also offer 100% company-paid Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company's 401(k) plan with up to a 4% match. Additionally, employees receive paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, and are able to participate in employee ownership options. MacKay pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual performance bonuses.
