About the Job:
Acts as an oil spill response (OSR) subject matter expert and provides specialised technical expertise across the entire value chain of the OSR Department, from response planning to contractor management in order to promote continuous improvement and excellence in oil spill preparedness and response within ADNOC.
Job Specific Accountabilities:
• Leads the research, collation and benchmarking of international OSR
regulations, quality standards and best practice in order to establish a
comprehensive knowledge repository to support progressive strategy formulation
and effective decision-making at the Senior Management level.
• Advises on the implementation of functional policies, systems, processes,
procedures and controls covering all areas of the OSR functions so that all
the relevant requirements are fulfilled while delivering HSE-compliant and
cost-effective emergency response services in a consistent manner.
• Develops, seeks approval and facilitates the implementation of standard
operating procedures (SOPs) for all oil spill machinery and operations across
ADNOC in order to ensure resource optimisation and effective operations as per
defined HSE standards.
• Provides expertise on numerous technical aspects of the oil spill response
department’s activities, such as the choice of equipment, materials, sub-
contractors, etc., in order to shape the department’s technical decision-
making as per the corporate objectives and leading market practices.
• Supports the design and delivery of OSR training plans to ensure they are
technically fit-for-purpose and aligned with the best-in-class emergency
response methods.
• Attends specialised crisis and emergency fairs and conferences to represent
ADNOC so that the company is informed about the latest market practices,
innovations and developments.
• Reviews the Group Company Assets’ Tier 1 Emergency Response Plans and
highlights any potential improvement areas in order to help raise OSR’s
awareness, preparedness and capabilities across the ADNOC group.
• Supports and counsels the OSR teams, upon notification of an emergency, to
ensure efficient and accurate risk assessment as well as appropriate and
responsive disaster relief (Tier 2 and 3 emergencies).
• Remains on-call as per the duty roster in order to respond in a timely
manner to Tier 2 and 3 emergencies
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Marine Management, Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of experience experience in the crisis and emergency field, preferably in the oil & gas industry
Professional Certifications
- Accreditation: IMO (level 3)
- Certificates: First Aid, Sea survival, Fire fighting
