Our mission is to uplift as many communities as possible. We do this through our app-based marketplace that connects healthcare professionals with the workplaces that need amazing workers. This enables hundreds of thousands of people to achieve financial stability for themselves and their families while providing essential care to millions of people across the U.S.

Founded in 2016, we are a remote-first team of over 1,000 people building a top Y-Combinator company and have been profitable since 2022. We’re the leader in Long-Term Care staffing and are rapidly expanding into Home Health, Hospitals, and more, meaning we have more work to do than people to do it, and are growing our team to support millions more people and their communities.

The team

Vault owns the financial infrastructure that powers Clipboard's marketplace - worker payouts, instant pay, facility invoicing, fraud controls, and billing operations. When a nurse completes a 12-hour shift at 6am, Vault makes sure they get paid on time. You can find more information on the team and areas of work from this page.

What you'd be working on

• Payment flows including instant pay, and facility invoicing and billing

• Fraud detection and prevention

• Invoicing and reconciliation logic that makes sure workers are paid correctly and facilities are billed accurately

Additionally you’d be working with operations and finance stakeholders, so it’s critical to understand the business impact of what you build and how it affects the facilities and the workers who use Clipboard.

What we're looking for

Engineers who do well on Vault care deeply about correctness. We look for engineers who put the customer first and do what needs to be done to make sure the worker gets paid. Someone on Vault thrives on owning high stakes systems end to end, and are willing to own those systems when they break. Having prior experience with transaction systems, payment infrastructure, and working with financial data at scale is a plus.

Stack: Node/NestJS, TypeScript, MongoDB, Postgres, Redis, AWS (ECS, Terraform).

The interview process

When looking at candidates, their actual competencies matter more to us than what’s on your resumes. Because of that we make sure our assessments and interviews mirror real work that’s being done at Clipboard.

Here's what the process looks like:

1. Take-home PR assessment (~60–90 min) + live follow-up

2. Second take-home (technical design or second PR) + live follow-up

3. Hiring manager interview

4. Final culture screen with our Head of People

The process is written and async by design in order to for you to get a feel for how we work in our remote culture.
