Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of landscape and grounds, maintenance of equipment and related grounds equipment for McEntire Roads and Grounds Complex. Mowing, edging and maintenance of grassed areas. Landscape maintenance of shrub beds, pruning, clipping and trimming trees and shrubs, parking lots, fence lines and retention pond at McEntire Joint Armed Forces Readiness Center (JAFRC)and other Armories and Training sites in the area. Mix and apply pesticide, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation or chemical application on trees, shrubs, lawn, or botanical crops. Perform maintenance of roads and grounds that includes the operations of small and light weight equipment, to include agricultural tractors, industrial lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, edges, trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping equipment as needed. Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to vehicles and equipment. Transport and haul equipment to perform daily job functions.A high school diploma and custodial or grounds keeping experience directly related to the area of employment.Certification in horticultural and grounds maintenance experience.Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s license. Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to climb and work form ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50/75 lbs. Must be able to work in confined spaces; hot, hazardous, and noisy locations; and in adverse weather conditions. Position requires participation in the on-call program and to work after hours, as on call technician. A resume will not be accepted in lieu of an online South Carolina State Employment Application.
