GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park is one of the premier birding destinations in North America and features incredible biodiversity. Under the direction of the Park/Historic Site Superintendent, this position performs complex (journey-level) assistant park/historic site management work. Responsible for the effective management, safety, and security of the World Birding Center (WBC) at Bentsen Rio Grande Valley State Park. Responsible for assisting and/or coordinating in areas such as: Law Enforcement, Maintenance, Revenue Collection, Resource Management, Interpretation/Education, and Administration. Provides leadership to park staff, volunteers, and others to successfully manage and conserve the park's natural and cultural resources for present and future use. Serves as Park/Historic Site Superintendent in their absence. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

NOTE : Salary range is limited to commissioned officers in the park management track prior to 9/1/2020. State Park Law Enforcement career ladder eligibility requirements must be met to advance from the base rate-of-pay.
