Program Specialist I (Data Specialist)
The Data Specialist is responsible for the administration of human resources and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws. Work involves processing and entering information into internal Human Resources Information Systems (CAPPS HR/Payroll) and other internal databases. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
This position:
· Processes PREQs/PAFs and enters data into the CAPPS HR/Payroll system within established deadlines to ensure conformity with the agency, state, and federal regulations.
· Researches, processes, and replies timely to current and prior state employment inquiries.
· Reconciles discrepancies between CAPPS HR/Payroll system, USPS personnel system, personnel files, and communicates with other staff to resolve discrepancies.
· Assists with human resources automated filing systems (SharePoint) in accordance with internal procedures and the Texas State Records Retention Schedule.
· Responds to routine questions from employees on human resources policies and procedures.
· Back up with posting job vacancies on internal or external websites.
· Back up with sending certified/regular mail requests.
· Back up with phone coverage.
· Back up as the additional duty safety officer.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
