*BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY*

Performs highly complex (senior-level) work in support of museum administration, operations, collections, exhibits and programs. Work involves managing Saturday Museum operations, supporting curatorial and administrative functions essential to positive visitor experiences and collection stewardship, assisting in the design, construction, installation and maintenance of museum exhibits. Reports to the Museum Director and works under limited supervision with moderate latitude for independent judgment.

*Work Hours:* Tuesday – Saturday, 8-hour days, 40 hours/week

*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Serves as the primary on‑site manager of museum operations during Saturday hours and assigned holidays.
  • Assists with coordinating the acquisition, storage, and exhibition of collections and related materials.
  • Assists with deeds of gift, object intake, and correspondence with lenders and donors to support timely processing and stewardship.
  • Supports the curator and museum director with research inquiries.
  • Schedules use of museum spaces for internal and external activities.
  • Drafts or responds to correspondence related to donors, lenders, and program partners.
  • Provides technical assistance on object handling, exhibit preparation, and collection management.
  • Assists with school tours, educational programming, and special events.
  • Ensures exhibit areas and visitor spaces are safe, clean, accessible, and engaging.
  • Oversees building readiness, exhibit functionality, visitor experience, and emergency procedures during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinates with staff, volunteers, and any rental or tour groups using museum spaces.
  • Assists museum exhibit curator with design, construction, installation, and maintenance of a variety of exhibits, artifacts, and displays.
  • Conducts historical research in response to visitor/academic inquiries and to assist collections and exhibit staff.
  • Maintains records of exhibits, artifacts, and display changes.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • May work holidays.
  • Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies & procedures handbook.
  • May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters and other missions, to include holidays and weekends.
