Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, The Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, is in search of an experienced Researcher. The Researcher will carry out laboratory experiments to enable research into the cause and treatment of autoimmune diseases. This will involve isolation of immune cells from mice or human peripheral blood and analyze the genes and biological markers on these cells. The samples will be prepared and analyzed by flow cytometry, single cell RNAseq, real-time PCR and histological analysis.
General Responsibilities
As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Mouse handling; including maintaining house colony and breeding with backcrossing and keeping records.

Genotyping.

Preparation of cells from mouse and human samples for culture and analysis.

Ordering lab supplies and general maintenance including regulatory oversite, i.e. preparing animal protocol and EHS documents, biosafety documents, transfer documents, regulatory paperwork.

Analyzes data and writes the results section of reports and publications.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range : $ 50,050 - $ 81,330
