Job details
As a Health & Safety Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and
promoting a strong health and safety culture across the business. Working as
part of the People & Capability team, you will be responsible for ensuring
compliance with health, safety and welfare legislation while providing
practical support and guidance to employees and management teams.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you will take ownership of day-to-day
health and safety activities, support continuous improvement initiatives,
coordinate training and compliance programmes, and help drive best practice
across the organisation.
What will you do
- Ensure compliance with Irish health & safety legislation, company policies, and internal management systems, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and ergonomic assessments, identifying opportunities to improve safety performance and reduce risk.
- Lead incident investigations, track corrective and preventative actions, and ensure actions are completed within agreed timescales.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, emergency equipment management, and First Aid coverage.
- Manage health & safety training programmes, inductions, compliance training, and training records for employees and contractors.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews, ensuring audit findings are effectively closed out.
- Work closely with Workplace, Facilities, and operational teams to support contractor management, permit-to-work processes, workplace projects, and the ongoing maintenance of a safe and compliant working environment.
Who you are
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety role, with a strong understanding of Irish health & safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and managing corrective actions.
- Experience coordinating health & safety training programmes, inductions, and compliance initiatives.
- Strong administrative, reporting, and organisational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture across the business.
- Experience with ISO 45001 management systems, IOSH membership, First Aid qualifications, or experience within workplace/facilities environments would be advantageous.
