Job Title:Senior ID &C Asset Engineer
Location: Arnold AFB - Tullahoma, TN
As an Instrumentation, Design, and Controls (ID&C) Asset Engineer, you will serve as the primary Technical Advisor to the 804th Test Group Test Support Squadron (TSS). You will have technical and engineering oversight of designated ID&C systems, ensuring their long-term health, system readiness, and safety in support of critical aerospace ground-test missions.
You will work closely with government personnel, active-duty military, and the base operating/sustainment contractors to bridge the gap between high-level mission goals and tactical test-cell-level technology execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical asset engineer for assigned ID&C systems, including instrumentation, data acquisition, facility controls, and associated hardware/software interfaces.
- Maintain awareness of asset condition, operational readiness, obsolescence, reliability issues, maintenance needs, and modernization priorities.
- Develop and prioritize lifecycle sustainment, repair, replacement, and upgrade requirements in coordination with engineering, maintenance, test operations, project management, and customer organizations.
- Establish and maintain technical baselines, system documentation, drawings, requirements, configuration records, and operating constraints for assigned assets.
- Support test planning and execution by ensuring ID&C assets are configured, available, and capable of meeting test-specific measurement, control, and data-quality requirements.
- Identify technical risks, single points of failure, and capability gaps; recommend practical mitigation strategies and investment priorities.
- Lead or support system troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and post-test lessons learned.
- Review proposed modifications, upgrades, and work packages for technical adequacy, integration impacts, maintainability, safety, and compatibility with existing facility systems.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external customers to communicate asset status, requirements, risks, schedules, and resource needs.
- Support development of long-range plans for ID&C modernization, standardization, and sustainment across assigned facilities or test capabilities.
