*Job Summary:*| The Division of Medical Oncology is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) benefits-eligible Research and Grants Specialist who will work under the Finance and Accounting Principal Professional to maintain day-to-day financial operations in the Division, including grant post-award monitoring and other financial duties. In this role, employees will have the opportunity to learn how to analyze University, research, and clinical data to help inform faculty and leadership decisions and ensure efficient and accurate decision- making. This position will work closely with the Division Administrator, PIs, and key administrative staff within the divisions to ensure accurate grant and clinical trial contracting. This position will also interact with and collaborate closely with the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) and external sponsors on billing and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and updates monthly financial reports for all PI’s that have research funding as well as reports for leadership in the Division.
  • Ensures that the award setup accurately reflects the terms and conditions of the award as well as anticipated spending; requests appropriate rebudgeting from OGC and/or the sponsor when required.
  • Prepares documentation for OGC to draft subcontracts; monitors contract execution, account set-up, invoicing, and compliance.
  • Reviews all expenditures to ensure that division researchers adhere to institutional policies and procedures, as well as to all applicable federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations.
  • Completes Journal Entries and Payroll Expense transfers as needed on grant accounts.
  • Works with Pre-Award Coordinator to process progress reports, including working with Principal Investigators to prepare and submit progress reports (RPPRs) as required by project sponsors.

Work Location:| Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of two to three (2-3) days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

*Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications:* Entry Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • One (1) year of grant experience at an institution of higher learning.
    • Substitution: An advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications (All Levels):

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • Three (3) years of grant experience at an institution of higher learning.
  • Experience with University of Colorado finance systems (i.e., InfoEd, m-Fin, Concur, Marketplace).
  • Clinical, laboratory, or research experience.
  • Contracts and finance experience.
  • Program and/or project management experience.

Conditions of Employment (All Levels):

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future.
  • Must live within 50 miles of CU Anschutz.
  • Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, eligible for a hybrid schedule.

Anticipated Pay Range:*| The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

  • Entry Level: $47,553 to $63,721
  • Intermediate Level: $51,748 to $69,343
