JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Communications Associate Director, the Digital Content Creator is responsible for creating design, concepts, sample layouts and other materials for print and/or digital media by utilizing computer programs to create images, graphics and other types of artwork.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES _include the following. Other duties
may be assigned._
- Collaborate with the Communications team to make visually compelling content.
- Create and design various materials for digital mediums.
- Select colors, fonts, images, and layouts that are appropriate for desired messaging.
- Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner with an eye for quality and accuracy.
- Manage multiple projects within design specifications.
- Implement feedback and changes provided by Communications leadership
- Create visualizations that convey accurate messaging for the project, with an emphasis on communicating to students.
- Create videos to promote Beach Shops' department services, sales and events on social media channels
- Photograph Beach Shops' events and other promotions for social media channels
- Create content that meets ADA / ATI Accessibility standards.
- Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job

Work Schedule
Work shifts will be assigned during regular Beach Shops Corporate operating hours, which are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Operational activity is year-round, including the summer recess period. Some campus closure dates, holidays, and weekends are required. Shifts may vary to include mornings and afternoons.
Physical Demands
The job will require the employee to work in an office environment while working at a desk and viewing a computer screen for long periods of time. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and use office equipment within arm's reach. Specific vision abilities are required, which may include close vision and ability to adjust focus. There will be time spent intermittently on their feet and moving around in a large building. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment
The employee is typically in a climate-controlled office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work content requires numerous regulatory and reporting deadlines on a consistent basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or experience
The employee must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units. Preference will be given to students majoring in Graphic Arts, Marketing, or Communications. Experience with both print and digital media is preferred but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
This position does not require any certificates, licenses or registrations.
Knowledge and Abilities
The employee must have working knowledge of design creation software, including Adobe Express, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and CapCut, with proficiency using both PC and Mac platforms and Microsoft Office applications. The employee must possess a solid understanding of layout principles, graphic fundamentals, typography, and best practices for print and web design. Familiar with social media content management tools such as Later, Sprout Social, or similar platforms. The employee must exhibit superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and convey ideas clearly and professionally. The ability to understand and comply with University and Beach Shops policies and procedures is required.
