Join Our Fast-Paced Boarding & Play Care Team in Downtown Austin
Austin Urban Veterinary Center is seeking a full-time Playcare Attendant to support our thriving dog and cat boarding and dog play care facility located in the heart of downtown Austin, TX. This is not a seasonal or temporary role —we are looking for a dedicated professional who wants to grow with our team long-term.
Our bustling facility serves downtown Austin residents and surrounding communities. With consistent bookings year-round, you’ll work in a highly interactive, energetic environment focused on delivering exceptional pet care.

Schedule & Availability
We provide pet care 365 days per year , including weekends and holidays.
Shift Options:
- Opening Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Closing Shift: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Candidates must be available to work both shift types as needed.
Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role:
As a Pet Care Technician, you will play a hands-on role in the daily care, supervision, and safety of our pet guests.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Rotate dogs safely in and out of supervised playgroups throughout the day
- Monitor dog playgroups to ensure a safe, structured, and fun environment
- Check pets in and out while providing outstanding client service
- Prepare and distribute meals according to feeding instructions
- Administer medications, including injections (training provided as needed)
- Maintain daily cleanliness of pet suites (including litter box maintenance)
- Sanitize indoor dog play areas (this role involves significant cleaning)
- Perform laundry and maintain overall facility cleanliness
- Accurately enter pet care notes into our software system (training provided)
- Transport pets to the downstairs veterinary clinic when needed
- Communicate effectively with teammates regarding care updates and operational needs
- Important: This is a physically active role focused on structured pet care and facility operations—not a position where you simply “play with dogs all day.”
What You'll Bring:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with dogs and cats (professional experience preferred but not required)
- Understanding that pets are family members and must be handled with extreme care

Required Skills & Abilities:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable standing and moving for extended periods
- Capable of extensive cleaning and laundry tasks
- Strong multitasking skills and attention to detail
- Professional, polite communication with clients
- Basic PC proficiency
- Team-oriented mindset with strong work ethic
