GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Greet patients and explain diagnostics testing procedures.
Following a prescription outlined by the patient's physician, the technician performs the imaging, sends results to PACS for interpretation and updates to medical records.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED : Reports to Radiology Supervisor
SUPERVISION EXERCISED : Physicians
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Professionalism, empathy and the ability to put the patient at ease and keep the comfortable during testing process.
- Must interpret the written orders of physicians prior to testing.
- Adhering to safety regulations, question of pregnancy 12 yrs. - 60 yrs.
- Preparing equipment for use as needed.
- Keeping surface of the x-ray machinery clean.
- Wearing gloves and proper protection and sterilizing instruments.
- Applying special shields to block radiation for body parts that are not being tested.
- Monitoring patient during exams
- Required proper documentation in EMR system.
- Technicians must also keep patient health information confidential and protect medical records from unauthorized viewing.
- Report vital information to physician.
- Completing all CEU requirements for the state.
- Annual compliance training and follow AIDET principles
Qualifications
EDUCATION : High School Diploma or equivalent. State issued license prior to treating patients independently.
EXPERIENCE : X-ray Equipment and Techniques, Human Anatomy, Patient Care
REQUIREMENTS : Complete a Radiology Training Program, Licensed and Certified by the state of Texas, Current documentation of continuing education hours required by the state of Texas.
KNOWLEDGE :
Must have general knowledge of medical practice. Terminology related to radiography and anatomy.
SKILLS :
Must meet and deal successfully with a wide variety of people.
ABILITIES:
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines and accountability to accuracy.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is often required to be on feet or walking. Transporting patients to and from wheelchairs and stretchers.
