Design Engineer

at QualGent

Wide pay band

Company Description

Software is moving at the speed of AI, but quality assurance is stuck in the dark ages. We are QualGent AI. Backed by Y Combinator and built by former Google engineers who worked at the bleeding edge of AI and XR, we are building the infrastructure to eliminate software bugs entirely. We aren’t just making testing faster; we’re making it autonomous. By combining instant mobile bug recording with agentic verification, we catch, diagnose, and verify issues before they ever bottleneck a release. We are engineering a zero-bug future.

Role Description

This is a full-time, remote Design Engineer role.

You bridge the gap between static design and live code. You possess a high aesthetic bar but refuse to be slowed down by traditional design-to- development handoffs.

  • The Vibe: Aesthetic but highly technical. You are frustrated by slow loading times and clunky UI. You don't just want things to look good; they want to ship them instantly.
  • The Skill Stack: Coding (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Next.js/React, Tailwind CSS), Design (e.g. Figma, Framer), Motion Graphics & Video (e.g. Hera AI, Veo from Gemini).
  • Core Metric: Time-to-value from product feature release or founder strategy update to a live, interactive, visually compelling web asset.

Example work:

  • Landing Page Iterations: Not just tweaking design, but going from founder vision to a live, coded, and conversion-optimized page in a single day.
  • Social & Release Packaging: Translating highly technical feature releases into digestible, engaging LinkedIn and X posts that resonate with VPs of Engineering and QA Directors.
  • Product Demo & Video Assets: Rapidly producing motion graphics and walkthroughs for new features without waiting on two-week vendor turnarounds.
  • Technical Content & Case Studies: Creating the deep-dive blog posts and documentation that technical buyers require to build trust before they ever book a demo.
  • Competitor "Takedown" Assets: Building and maintaining live comparison pages that position our platform against legacy mobile testing tools.
