We are currently seeking an Automation Engineer or Senior Automation Engineer
to join our Power Utilities team in Brisbane. This role offers the opportunity
to become a key contributor within a highly experienced engineering team,
delivering advanced automation and secondary systems solutions.

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer (L2/L3) to join our Electrical Engineering – Secondary Systems team in Brisbane. In this role, you will deliver SCADA and control systems design services across a range of power system development projects.
You will play a key role in designing, integrating and commissioning automation and control systems for substations, generation plants and control centres, ensuring high quality, compliant and efficient engineering outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver SCADA and control system design including PLC, RTU, HMI and IED integration
- Develop automation logic and control schemes for power and industrial applications
- Coordinate design activities across disciplines and manage interfaces with project stakeholders
- Support testing, commissioning and site activities as required
- Provide technical input to tenders, business development and project delivery teams
- Review and verify engineering designs for technical accuracy and compliance
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering practices

About you
- Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Systems Engineering
- Proven experience in SCADA and automation engineering within utilities, power or industrial environments
- Strong background in PLC/RTU programming and SCADA platforms (e.g. Citect, Wonderware, MicroSCADA)
- Knowledge of SCADA protocols and standards (e.g. Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850)
- Experience in control system design from concept to commissioning
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
