Medical Assistant Job Description
Essential Functions
Medical Assistants should have excellent interpersonal abilities sufficient to interact with individuals, families and groups from a variety of social, emotional, cultural, and intellectual backgrounds. Exceptional thinking ability for clinical judgment and professional behavior is also expected.
Specific Duties
Position responsibilities include:
- schedule appointments, tests, and surgeries
- greet patients
- pre-certify insurance benefits
- obtain medical history and vitals
- assist during physical exams
- prepare injections
- enter patient information in medical record
- maintain treatment rooms
- lab procedures, and phlebotomy
Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.

Supervision
The Medical Assistant position reports to the Clinical Director with dotted line reporting relationship to physician.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications
Position requires one year experience in a medical environment including scheduling. Clinical office medical experience is preferred.
Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
Job Skills
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Ability to Multi-task
Computer skills including Microsoft Office products
Physical Demands
Position requires ability to sit and stand for lengthy periods, frequent bending, and ability to hear and communicate effectively.
