Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Civil Engineer to assist with our projects in Detroit, MI!

Key Responsibilities

MSG is seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer with 1–3 years of experience and strong Autodesk Civil 3D skills. This role supports engineers and project managers in producing civil/site design plans, reports, and calculations for municipal infrastructure and private development projects. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who wants to develop strong technical design abilities while contributing to meaningful projects across Southeast Michigan

Key Responsibilities
-
Develop design drawings and plans using Autodesk Civil 3D, including:

  • Site grading
  • Alignments and profiles
  • Surfaces and corridors
  • Utility layouts
  • Storm sewer and sanitary sewer networks

- Prepare components of engineering packages such as:

  • Construction drawings
  • Quantities and cost estimates
  • Drainage calculations and reports
  • Permit submittals

- Assist senior engineers and project managers with:

  • Technical analysis
  • Project coordination
  • Quality control reviews
  • Scheduling and task planning

- Conduct periodic field visits for site assessments, measurements, and construction support.
- Ensure all deliverables meet applicable municipal, county, and state standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 1–3 years of civil/site design experience.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D for drafting and basic design.
  • Understanding of civil engineering concepts, including grading, utilities, stormwater, and site layout.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
