Physical Education Substitute Teacher

Abraham Joshua Heschel School is currently seeking daily, on-call Physical Education (PE) Substitute Teachers for our Lower School Division. The typical working day is from 7:45am-3:45pm Monday through Thursday, and 7:45am-1:45pm on Friday. The rate of pay is $200 per day and $100 for half a day.

The PE substitute will teach PE classes for grades 1-5 following established lesson plans, supervise students during physical activities, ensure safety and engagement, support the school's expectations for supporting student behavior and community values, and provide coverage in other areas of the school such as lunch and recesses as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma; college degree preferred.

  • Must be available to work full days.

  • Experience working with children in a non-traditional classroom setting (gym, field, etc.).

  • Ability to safely manage large groups of students active in gameplay and sport.
