Property Tax Appeals Consultant (Texas)
Hourly (Contract-Based): $75–$100/hour
Abode Money is a rapidly growing technology company dedicated to making homeownership more affordable by helping homeowners save on the financial elements of homeownership. With tens of thousands of homeowners already on our platform, we are now expanding into Texas and seeking an experienced Property Tax Advisor to lead and guide our team through the unique regulatory and operational landscape of Texas property tax protests.
This is a contract-based, hourly consulting role designed for a subject matter expert in the Texas property tax system who can serve as an invaluable advisor during our initial market entry. For the right candidate, there may also be an opportunity for this engagement to transition into a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership to help us build and refine our Texas property tax product. Our partners include top-tier home financial services organizations such as USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, Thumbtack, and more.
What You’ll Do
As a Property Tax Appeals Consultant, you'll collaborate with our internal team by providing:
-
Regulatory Insight: Clarify Texas state statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations related to property tax protests.
-
County-Specific Knowledge: Advise on local requirements and nuances for major Texas counties, such as Travis, Harris, Tarrant, and Bexar.
-
Filing Processes: Guide our team on how and when to file petitions, including the specifics of online versus paper submissions.
-
Hearing Procedures: Share best practices for preparing and presenting property tax protest hearings.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re an ideal candidate if you:
-
Bring significant, hands-on experience from within the Texas property tax ecosystem—either via your own practice, with an established firm, or through a role in local government.
-
Possess an in-depth understanding of county-specific procedures, deadlines, and rules unique to Texas.
-
Are a creative thinker, able to innovate within the regulatory framework and identify new solutions while ensuring compliance.
-
Are available for consultation on an as-needed, hourly basis by phone or Zoom.
Why This Role Matters
We are committed to making homeownership more affordable, and your expertise will be pivotal as we enter the Texas market. You will help us build a strong, compliant foundation for our property tax solutions, ensuring a smooth and responsible expansion.
This is a flexible, high-impact opportunity to share your expertise—without requiring a full-time commitment.
