Vice President - Health, Safety, and Environment

The VP - Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) is responsible for setting and executing the national HSE strategy for Veriforce Canada. This executive leadership role ensures the integrity, compliance, and continuous evolution of contractor safety, environmental, and risk management standards across all service lines.
The Director will lead regulatory alignment, technical governance, audit oversight, and industry engagement while ensuring HSE excellence supports Veriforce Canada’s commercial growth objectives. This role serves as a senior HSE authority within Canada and partners closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, Client Success, Accreditation, and Executive Leadership to deliver best-in-class contractor management solutions.
What that means day-to-day:
• Define and execute the Canadian HSE strategy aligned with Veriforce’s
corporate objectives and regulatory obligations.
• Serve as a senior HSE advisor to the President, Canada and executive
leadership team.
• Oversee the development, governance, and continuous improvement of
contractor compliance and risk standards.
• Ensure full compliance with Canadian federal and provincial health, safety,
and environmental legislation.
• Represent Veriforce Canada at industry forums, regulatory bodies, and sector
associations.
• Drive audit integrity, quality assurance programs, and continuous
improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Sales and Client teams to support strategic client engagements
and complex risk discussions.
• Monitor competitor activity, regulatory changes, and emerging ESG trends
impacting contractor management.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing national HSE and compliance team.
• Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence
across Veriforce Canada.
What you’ll need to be successful:
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Health, Safety &
Environment within industrial, energy, construction, or compliance-driven
sectors.
• Deep knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial HSE legislation and
regulatory frameworks.
• Experience leading HSE strategy within a multi-site or national
organization.
• Strong understanding of contractor management, supply chain risk, and
compliance systems.
• Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and external
regulators.
• Industry-recognized certification such as CRSP and CSP.
• Post-secondary degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental
Science, or related discipline preferred.
• Willingness to travel nationally as required.
• Bilingual (French, English)
• Membership with CSSE or other recognized professional HSE associations are
considered an asset.
