PenTeleData, the industry leader in data transport, Internet, Wi-Fi, security and consultative services throughout the Northeast, is seeking a motivated Broadband Sales Engineer! If you have a strong desire to grow professionally and learn the access side of the service provider infrastructure then this is the spot for you!
As a Sales Engineer with PenTeleData, you will be the technical implementation resource for our customers who have purchased Broadband Service to be installed or upgraded. You will interact daily with commercial customers, our partners, vendors and other departments.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 2-4 years related experience working in enterprise or service provider environments
- Completed CCNA or similar courses - current certifications preferred
- Established residency in Pennsylvania
The technical, or “hard skills” we need run the gamut:
- Basic networking knowledge including understanding of the TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, IPv6 and OSI model
- Understanding basics of static and dynamic IP routing
- Some understanding of how an HFC network operates from the data side
- Familiarity with DHCP and DORA process
- Ability to remain technical while using layman terms with non-technical customers
The non-technical, or “soft skills” needed include:

Overseeing customer turn-ups and changes

Handling multiple projects at once
- Facilitating efficient communication between multiple stakeholders
- Exceptional Customer Service Skills
- Outstanding Troubleshooting Skills – thinking logically through problems
- Ability to document findings accurately and explain them with working knowledge
- Ability to present facts and ideas verbally and written in a logical, sequential and understandble manner
- Ability to follow procedures and processes but still remain flexible for exceptional cases when they occur
- Ability to be self-motivated and operate autonomously with little supervision

Preferred Skills – these are “nice to have” but definitely not required:
- Understanding NAT and how to configure it -includes Static and Dynamic NAT

Basic understanding of ACLs, ASA firewalls

Experience with Cisco, Zyxel and/or Ubiquiti device configurations
- Previous experience utilizing Salesforce or other comparable CRM in daily operations
