Senior Landfill Engineer

MSG is seeking a Senior Landfill Engineer to join our growing environmental and solid waste team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of landfill permitting, design, construction, and operational support projects for municipal and private-sector clients across Ohio and surrounding states.
Key Responsibilities
- Solid waste landfill design, permitting, and operational support for municipal and private landfill facilities.
- Preparation of landfill permitting documents, construction plans, technical specifications, and certification reports.
- Construction oversight and construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring for landfill facilities and related infrastructure.
- Support groundwater monitoring, explosive gas monitoring, stormwater management, and erosion control efforts.
- Assist with landfill gas collection and control system design, including blowers, flares, and energy recovery systems.
- Coordinate with junior engineers and field staff on project assignments and construction activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across Ohio offices.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related engineering field required.
- Minimum 5 to 7+ years of experience in solid waste, landfill engineering, environmental consulting, site civil, or geotechnical engineering.
- Experience with Landfill Gas Management design and permitting.
- Familiarity with groundwater monitoring, explosive gas monitoring, or environmental compliance programs.
- Experience with Ohio EPA solid waste regulations or similar state regulatory programs.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification preferred.
- Strong technical writing and report preparation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work collaboratively in a team environment.
