develop, and produce both short- and long-term investigative and enterprise
stories.
• Dig deep into complex issues, find untold angles and uncover
what others miss.
• Use open records laws, data analysis and innovative
research methods to drive reporting.
• Build and maintain strong source
networks across our coverage area.
• Write and deliver stories in a clear,
compelling, and authentic voice across streaming, TV, digital and social
platforms.
• Shoot and edit high-quality visual content using the latest
gear and editing tools.
• Create content that’s not only informative but
highly shareable and impactful.
• Enhance storytelling with graphics, data
visualizations, social media elements and user-generated content.
•
Collaborate with producers, editors, photographers and digital staff to
maximize storytelling potential.
• Contribute to story development meetings
and help shape the direction of ongoing coverage.
• Help cover breaking
news as needed.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in
journalism, communications or related field.
• 5-7+ years of investigative
journalism experience preferred.
• Experience using open records tools,
PACER, LexisNexis and public databases.
• Strong storyteller skills with
the ability to make the complicated understandable.
• Clear, compelling
writing style adaptable for multiple platforms.
• Must be able to use all
available tools to enhance stories, including AI.
• Digital-first mindset
with strong understanding of social platforms and audience engagement.
•
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm and confident
under pressure, especially in breaking news situations.
• Strong
organizational and time management skills.
