Group Chief Financial Officer

An international, founder-led group spanning healthcare staffing and hospitality across four countries is seeking a Group CFO to be the CEO’s strategic financial partner and right hand. This is not a steward’s seat. It is the senior financial head of a group in motion: strengthening performance and profitability, underwriting expansion into the US and Australia, and turning capable but unled finance teams into one coherent capability.

THE ROLE

• Act as the CEO’s primary financial counsel: challenge the thinking, structure the hard decisions, own group capital allocation.
• Lead and align existing UK and South African finance teams, including two UK Financial Controllers, into a single group function.
• Drive performance and profitability improvement across the staffing and hospitality businesses in the UK and South Africa.
• Financially underwrite US and Australia market entry: structuring, tax, funding and viability.
• Deliver consolidated reporting, group cash flow and multi-currency treasury the CEO can act on quickly.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Qualified accountant (CA(SA), ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with senior experience at CFO or FD level.
• Multi-country group experience, ideally including the UK; real understanding of the UK tax and regulatory environment.
• Proven in driving performance improvement and profit recovery in fast-changing businesses.
• Exposure to both services and operational or hospitality businesses strongly preferred.
• The standing to challenge a founder and be heard, paired with the trust to work as a close right hand.

The work asks for two things that can pull against each other: the spine to tell the CEO when she is wrong, and the trust and availability of a true right hand. The right person does both. You will not be managing a steady state. You will be helping build, strengthen and expand a group, in close daily partnership with its founder, with real influence over where it goes next.
