Manager, Data Science

Within our commercial Insights, Analytics, and Data organization, we are transforming to better power decision-making across our end-to-end commercialization process, from business development to late lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for one/multiple therapy areas – demonstrating strong pharmaceutical knowledge and end-to-end project management capability

  • Conceptualize and deliver forecasts and analytical solutions, using both strategic and statistical techniques within area of responsibility

  • Determine the optimal forecasting method considering forecast context, data availability, desired accuracy, and timeline

  • Leverage machine learning algorithms, automation, and data visualization to improve forecasting processes and outputs

  • Drive continuous enhancements to evolve forecasting capabilities in terms of value-add, risk/opportunity/uncertainty – identifying and elevating key levers, insights, and findings to inform decision-making

  • Drive innovation and automation to bring robustness and efficiency gains across forecasting processes; incorporate best-in-class statistical methods to improve accuracy

  • Contribute to evolving team offerings through innovation, standardization, and automation of models and processes

  • Collaborate across stakeholders – Supply Chain, Human Health, our manufacturing division, Finance, Research, Country/Regional/Global Demand Planners, and senior leadership – to build robust assumptions, drive centralization of forecasts, and ensure forecast accuracy improves over time

  • Communicate effectively and independently drive storyboarding and presentation of analytical findings and visualizations to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences

  • Manage delivery of forecasts and forecasting capabilities/tools in a timely manner with allocated resources

  • Ensure documentation is created and maintained in line with internal standards

  • Empower a growth mindset and inspire a culture of continual learning that strives for greater quality, efficiency, and innovation, ultimately improving team productivity and work product

Qualifications

Required

  • Engineering / Management / Pharma post-graduates with 3+ years of experience in relevant roles; with 1-2 years of experience in pharmaceutical strategic forecasting or analytics

  • Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including drug development, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing functions, regulatory requirements, and clinical trial data

  • Excellent business acumen, with the ability to understand commercial strategies at both global and region/country levels – and translate these into detailed business requirements that power analytics

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an aptitude for strategic thinking; ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights to solve ambiguous business problems

  • Strategic thinker who can be consultative, collaborative, and "engage as equals"

  • Ability to manage ambiguous environments and adapt to changing business needs

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across large, diverse, and cross-functional stakeholder groups

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting analytical findings to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences using effective storytelling grounded in insights

  • Working knowledge of Monte Carlo simulations and range forecasting

  • Proficiency in developing machine learning and descriptive algorithms using Python, R, SAS, or equivalent; ability to formulate business questions based on stakeholder insight requirements

Preferred

  • Demonstrated value in driving innovation and automation leveraging advanced statistical and analytics techniques; expertise in AI/ML, NLP modeling, and model evaluation is an added advantage
