RMV Revenue and Debt (Accountant II)

Position Summary

**RMV Revenue Operations Unit **

The Revenue Operations Unit (ROU) is a shared service with MassDOT, responsible for RMV Revenue and Debt Management.

The ROU provides support for internal customers on Revenue transaction research and issue resolution on RMV business transactions. The ROU also assists external customers with resolving, clarifying, and understanding general revenue issues. Issues are reviewed and resolutions provided for financial issues related to RMV business transactions. The review process of financial related information is carried out both within the RMV Atlas system and through external financial services. Understanding how revenue is collected and the many various ways errors and failed payments can occur, allows Revenue staff to research issues and provide solutions.

The RMV Revenue Operations Unit (ROU) supports the collection of revenue relating to RMV business transactions and processes. The Unit is responsible for processing payment default activity including check and credit card payments. They are also responsible for the collection of customers' returned payments from payment default actions. The ROU reviews these issues and assists with the resolution of financial related issues as the result of RMV business transactions through a review of financial related information both in the RMV Atlas system and external financial services.

The ROU supports Revenue and Finance reporting to the State Comptroller through MOSAIC, the state accounting system. The ROU is also responsible for regular reporting of specific business information to a variety of State Entities, Municipalities and Agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Record and track payment default activity related to RMV Business transaction.
  • Process payment default items in the RMV ATLAS system to record debt owed due to failed payments to the RMV.
  • Process payments to resolve payment default actions on RMV debt from failed payments to the RMV.
  • Ensure the accurate recording of RMV revenue collections.
  • Review, verify and confirm the eligibility and accuracy of Customer refunds.
  • Respond to telephone and email requests from RMV Service Centers, RMV Business Units and RMV customers for assistance with revenue, payment, and refund related questions.
  • Provide customer service support to internal and external customers for RMV payment and refund inquiries.
  • Provide feedback on financial processes within the ATLAS system to improve the quality of and promote processing efficiencies for RMV business transactions.
  • Interpret state and federal laws, regulations, guidelines and procedures for financial operations and accounting systems.
  • Confer with suppliers of goods and/or providers of services and their employees to explain state/agency rules, policies and accounting procedures governing payment and related financial transactions.

**Pre-Hire Process **

Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants must agree to and successfully satisfy: (i) a comprehensive name-based and fingerprint-based background check of his/her state and federal criminal history records information from all U.S. states, the District of Columbia and certain U.S. Territories and from some foreign nations; (ii) an employment reference check, and (iii) a satisfactory review of his/her driving records to be eligible for this position.
