At Copeland Veterinary Hospital, Cookeville’s only 24/7 emergency animal hospital, you’ll be part of a compassionate team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care every day.
We are seeking skilled, motivated veterinary professionals who are passionate about helping animals and supporting high-quality medicine. Whether you’re a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT) or an experienced Veterinary Assistant, this is an excellent opportunity to build your career in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Patient Care & Triage – Assist veterinarians with patient assessments and stabilization when needed
- Diagnostics – Perform radiographs, collect lab samples, and assist with in-house testing
- Surgical & Treatment Support – Prepare patients for procedures, assist with anesthesia monitoring, and support recovery
- Medication Administration – Safely administer IV, IM, SQ, and oral medications
- Patient Monitoring – Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress
- Client Communication – Provide clear and compassionate updates to pet owners
- Medical Records – Maintain accurate records using veterinary EMR systems
- Team Collaboration – Work closely with veterinarians and hospital staff to deliver high-quality care
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Preferred Experience
- 1+ year experience in a veterinary hospital, animal clinic, shelter, or animal care facility
- Experience assisting with surgery, anesthesia monitoring, or diagnostics is a plus
Certifications
- LVT, RVT, or CVT preferred but not required
- Experienced Veterinary Assistants encouraged to apply
Technical Skills
- Venipuncture and catheter placement
- Patient restraint and surgical prep
- Basic knowledge of anesthesia monitoring and patient care

- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment
