WBNS-10TV, the TEGNA CBS affiliate in
Columbus, Ohio, has an exciting opportunity for a creative,
driven, and enterprising journalist to join our team as a Weekend
Evening Anchor and Multi-Skilled Journalist.
We are looking
for a strong storyteller and newsroom leader who thrives in breaking news,
enterprise reporting, and impactful journalism. The ideal candidate will
anchor weekend evening newscasts while also reporting as an MSJ during the
week or as newsroom needs dictate. This journalist must be an engaging
communicator who can lead coverage with confidence, credibility, and urgency —
especially during breaking news and severe weather coverage. We are looking
for someone who understands how to connect with audiences across broadcast,
streaming, digital, and social platforms while delivering meaningful
journalism that serves central Ohio. The successful candidate is
passionate about original storytelling, developing sources, and uncovering
stories that matter to viewers. This role requires someone who can work
independently in the field while also collaborating closely with producers,
editors, and newsroom leadership to create compelling content and innovative
newscasts.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a news
gathering vehicle is required.
Weekend Evening Anchor Responsibilities:
Anchor
weekend evening newscasts with strong editorial judgment and an engaging on-
air presence
Help lead breaking news and severe weather coverage during
weekend shifts
Collaborate with producers and newsroom leadership to shape
weekend editorial coverage
Deliver accurate, conversational, and audience-
focused storytelling
Contribute to streaming and digital coverage during
major news events
Help mentor and elevate storytelling across weekend
coverage
MSJ Responsibilities (Weekdays or as assigned):
Develop, write,
shoot, and edit original stories for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social
platforms
Enterprise story ideas through community contacts, public
records, and independent reporting
Deliver live reports during breaking
news and major events
Write and publish daily content for 10TV.com, the
10TV app, and social media platforms
Build and maintain strong
relationships and sources throughout central Ohio
Use modern storytelling
tools and techniques to create compelling, impactful journalism
General
Responsibilities:
Uphold the highest journalistic and
ethical standards
Collaborate across platforms to serve audiences wherever
they consume news
Contribute innovative ideas that enhance storytelling and
audience engagement
Perform additional duties as assigned by newsroom
leadership
Requirements:
Minimum 2–5 years of
television news anchoring and/or reporting experience preferred
Strong live
anchoring and reporting skills
Proven ability to enterprise and develop
original stories
Excellent writing, storytelling, and communication
skills
Ability to work independently as a Multi-Skilled
Journalist
Strong editorial judgment and commitment to journalistic
ethics
Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure breaking
news situations
Experience creating content for broadcast, digital,
streaming, and social platforms
Journalism, Communications, or related
degree preferred
Proficiency with newsroom systems, editing software, and
digital storytelling tools
