**About the Program **
A stable, prosperous, peaceful, and resilient PNG is critical to Australia's interests. Australia is PNG's largest development partner, its main partner on economic and security issues.
The Australia PNG Subnational Program (APSP) comprises of an enabling Facility mechanism and four separately designed programmed activities including the Bougainville Partnership, the Kokoda Initiative Partnership, the Western Province Partnership, and the Subnational Governance Implementation Plan. Each program activity has its own outcomes, theory of change, operational approach and separate monitoring and evaluation systems.
The Subnational Governance Implementation Plan (SGIP) is part of the Subnational Strategic Framework. The SGIP’s goal is to improve capacity, governance, and service delivery at subnational level, and greater coordination of Australian investments. The SGIP also prioritises engagement with key national agencies to support targeted provincial capacity development, improved policy compliance and opportunity for policy dialogue.
To achieve the aims of SGIP, the following will be undertaken.

Carry out Organisational Capacity Assessments (OCA) with Provincial Administrations in selected provinces.

Implement Provincial Capacity Development Plans targeting priority organisational areas/functions, determined by the OCA findings and recommendations and in consultation with the administration.

Service delivery with the Government of PNG’s minimum priority areas. Stronger coordination of PNG-Australia partnership programs at subnational level.
**About the Opportunity **
The communications Coordinator reports to the Team Leader (SGIP) and is responsible for delivering key communications products, public diplomacy materials and maintain public relations with key stakeholders. This position forms part of the Communications Community of Practice led by the Communications Manager.
The communications Coordinator will provide high level communication support to the SGIP and APSP (as required). The communications Coordinator will ensure the quality and validity of communications products and monitor and strengthen APSP communications systems and processes.
A key function of the position will be the demonstration of a visible and systematic commitment to achieving gender equality of Abt and for achieving against agreed gender equality performance objectives.
**Specific Responsibilities **

Draft high-quality written content for a variety of communication formats, including press releases, reports, talking points, and social media content including short videos.

Ensure that all written content is consistent with DFAT’s style guide and branding protocols.

Work closely with all of SGIP’s program teams to proactively monitor upcoming events and PD opportunities, and plan and develop communications products which promote the impact of SGIP’s support.

Attend public events and forums as required to capture content for communications products.

Assist with marketing, communications and coordination of events such as launches, seminars, conferences and other key SGIP and APSP communication activities.

Develop creative editorial materials for a range of communication projects, such as events, campaigns and launches.

Work closely with the communications team to create innovative and impactful communications products.

Facilitate inhouse communications training for SGIP teams

Maintain media monitoring and reporting.

Manage the partnership brand in line with DFAT guidelines.

Develop and facilitate communications training to SGIP team members as well as subcontractors as required.

Contribute to reporting, administration, data collection and other tasks as directed by the Communications Adviser

Ensure that GEDSI and safeguarding are integrated into the development of all communications products.

Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Team Leader, SGIP, and the Communications Manager

**About You **

Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or relevant field desired
Skills and Experience:
-
3-5 years professional experience working in a communications and marketing role preferably in the development context.

Experience in creative communications, videography, photography, content writing and managing both external and internal communications and activities.
-
Excellent verbal and written communications skills demonstrated through experience writing and editing for different media and audiences.
-
Ability to provide technical communications advice and support to SGIP and APSP teams.
-
Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Mailchimp.
-
Demonstrated commitment to GEDSI, climate and safeguarding as key cross-cutting issues.
