Job Purpose
Supervise, monitor and provide expertise for the Group Companies, SPC companies and all the new JV companies' drilling and well testing activities and operations to ensure that all activities and operations are done in conformity with ADNOC policy by reviewing, analyzing and endorsing the wells applications, budget and programs for all different types of wells. Coordinate well drilling plan agreements and execution of exploration wells and major drilling projects, supervises and monitors the performance of drilling to ensure the implementation of ADNOC corporate and ADNOC HSE policy and by conducting audit campaigns on the drilling operations.
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)
• Initiate, develop and follow up systems and procedures to monitor Group
Companies, new JVs and SPC companies drilling and workover operations ensuring
that the activities are performed according to ADNOC objectives and interests.
• Develop, discuss and endorse with the concerned new JVs, Group Companies
and SPC companies the establishment of performance indicators (KPI) and short
and long term targets for drilling and workover operations.
• Follow up drilling and workover activities in addition to relevant
petroleum engineering studies as necessary to be carried out by consultants or
OPCOs, new JVs, and SPC companies, correlates results and interprets findings
in terms of action and decision as required and reports to the management.
• Monitor ADNOC Drilling COP compliance and is responsible for giving input
for updating ADNOC Drilling Code Of Practices, Standards and Guidelines.
• Ensure collection, distribution and provides input/ feedback on lessons
learned from Group Companies, new JVs, and SPC companies related to drilling
operations.
• Provide advice on the short, medium and the long terms business plans and
rig optimization to ensure its conformity with drilling requirements.
• Keep abreast of new drilling and workover technologies and best practices
through attending and actively participating in the international conferences
and/or benchmarking for evaluation. Ensures the transfer of such technology
and practices to new JVs, Group Companies and SPC Companies.
• Provide technical advice regarding the drilling services contracts, and
maintains up-to-date knowledge of developing policies and practices to ensure
conformity with ADNOC interests and regulations.
• Advise on the development and implementation of drilling planning
strategies for the new major drilling projects and rig acquisition. Also,
recommend contracting strategies and recommendations for drilling services and
provides technical advice for commercial contracts that are relevant to
drilling operations.
• Define and finalizes within Upstream Units the field development options
considering developed technology and future technology trends for drilling
rigs.
• Coordinate with Upstream Units in the ranking and implementing plan for
ADNOC hydrocarbon fields, reservoirs and un-development structures.
• Participate in tasks force teams with new JVs, Group Companies and SPCs
companies on activities.
• Supervise and monitor ADNOC ASR wells, projects and explorations
operations. Holds the accountability/authority to stop any operations which
are not as per the agreed program or deemed unsafe or not in compliance with
ADNOC's Drilling Code of Practice.
• Supervise the planning of ADNOC Sole Risk (ASR) wells and provides
guidelines for the casing design, well program, services contract and budget.
• Supervise cost control and provides input for the preparation of annual
budget for ADNOC Sole Risk operations.
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 2)
• Provide input to and participates in Group Companies, new JVs, and SPC
companies Technical Committee Meetings and Drilling Well Integrity Sub
Committee Meetings and advises on drilling related issues.
• Coordinate ADNOC's inputs to workshops, meetings, taskforces, etc., to
address the ongoing rig drilling and HSE issues, evaluates the outcomes to be
implemented to solve the issues.
• Act in the capacity of ADNOC's representative in system and workplace
audits on selected drilling operations. Ensures closure of any non-conformity
issues from audits.
• Review all action plans and investigation reports for any lost time
incidents and ensures full adherence to and implementation of ADNOC corporate
and safety regulations.

assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver
Section objectives.

• Implement approved Unit/ Department/ Section policies, processes,
systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work
programs in line with Company and International standards.

• Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for
the Unit/ Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and
efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in
pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to
define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable
legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international
standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reports
• Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company
Management.
Generic Accountabilities (continue)
Internal Communications & Working Relationships
• Daily contacts with members in Drilling Department & Production Unit
management.
• Daily contacts with other Upstream Divisions in respect to drilling
operations.
• Frequent contacts with new JVs, OPCOs and SPC's drilling staff up to the
level of vice-presidents, to discuss the drilling operations.
External Communications & Working Relationships
• Frequent contacts with drilling service providers and rig equipment manufacturers.
Minimum Qualification
• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
• 9 years related experience in Drilling / Workover Operation and Petroleum
Engineering.
• Related experience in Drilling and Workover data management and studies
is preferred.
• Thorough knowledge in rig and drilling equipment and the processes
leading up to approval of drilling activities.
• Extensive experience in process, drilling and mechanical systems and
equipment used in oil fields.
• Excellent communication skills.
