Identification Technician I is a (rotating) Emergency position. Consequently, incumbents must periodically report to work under emergency conditions such as during states of emergency declared by the Governor of the Commonwealth or by the federal government.

Identification Technicians I undergo a training period of roughly 12 months to develop the knowledge and skills needed to qualify for advancement to Identification Technician II.

Identification Technicians I’s are assigned to the Day Shift (7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) or Evening Shift (3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) during the training period.
