ASC Engineered Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Molding Operator to support our rubber-to-metal bonding operations. This position is responsible for preparing metal inserts for bonding through blasting, painting, curing, and part identification, as well as operating molding presses and associated equipment to manufacture high-quality finished components. This role requires strict adherence to ISO procedures, manufacturing specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare metal inserts for rubber-to-metal bonding, including masking, tumble blasting, sanding, and pre-baking as required.
- Verify blasting equipment performance, maintain dust collectors, determine batch quantities, and inspect blasted inserts for quality.
- Mix bonding adhesives, apply adhesive by hand, booth, or robotic painting methods, and verify coating quality using visual inspection and ultraviolet light.
- Set up, operate, and adjust robotic painting systems (XY Robot), including programming, valve selection, needle setup, and air pressure adjustments.
- Set up and operate molding equipment, including selecting programs, installing molds, adjusting mold temperatures, changing faceplates, and preparing stock.
- Perform molding operations, including molding parts, checking durometer and bead height, trimming, and conducting microscopic inspections.
- Identify and document nonconforming product and complete all required production documentation, such as Molded Process Charts.
- Perform post-curing of inserts or molded parts as required.
- Operate auxiliary processing equipment, including cutters, blasters, leak testers, washers, mini lathes, and reamers.
- Conduct leak testing, rework leaking or defective parts, clean and rework components, and package finished parts for shipment.
- Support general cell utility functions and maintain compliance with ISO procedures, manufacturing specifications, and quality standards.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Familiar with ISO procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing specification control.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Ability to identify defects and nonconforming product.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate production equipment.
- Ability to complete documentation accurately and legibly.
- Familiar with PM (Preventive Maintenance) procedures.
- Proficiency in preparing, blasting, and applying bonding adhesives to small parts with accuracy and consistency.
