Rinker Design Associates (RDA) is seeking a motivated Traffic/Roadway Engineer to join our growing Transportation team. In this role, you'll contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and traffic engineering projects that improve safety, mobility, and connectivity throughout Virginia and beyond. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and project managers while taking increasing ownership of design tasks and client interactions.

What You'll Do:
- Assist with traffic analyses, safety studies, and transportation planning efforts.
- Develop traffic signal, signing, pavement marking and traffic control plans.
- Prepare traffic engineering and roadway designs for transportation projects.
- Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Utilize MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and other engineering software to produce roadway design documents.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure designs comply with VDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, and local agency standards.
- Participate in field reviews, site visits, and construction support activities as needed.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 4+ years of roadway and/or traffic engineering experience.
- EIT certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain preferred.
- Experience with VDOT and municipal transportation projects preferred.
- Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, and VDOT design standards.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
