QHSE Engineer Trainee

At DEME, safety and care for the environment go hand in hand. Through our QHSE
Engineer Traineeship, you will help embed both into everything we do, across
all our projects worldwide.
This traineeship is ideal for graduates who want to build a career at the intersection of safety, environment and engineering, and who are eager to grow into a well-rounded QHSE professional.
Your responsibilities
As a QHSE Trainee, you will:

Rotate through different QHSE teams to gain broad, hands-on exposure, with a strong focus on safety and environmental topics.

Support project teams with risk assessments, safety and environmental audits, and incident investigations.

Contribute to the development and implementation of safety and environmental campaigns, training sessions and management systems.

Assist in ensuring compliance with QHSE regulations, standards and internal procedures.

Actively promote a strong safety and environmental culture, both at HQ and on international project sites.

Work on initiatives that drive continuous improvement, sustainability and operational excellence.

Gain international exposure and develop yourself through on-the-job learning and structured training.
Your profile

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in safety, engineering, Environmental Sciences or a QHSE-related field.

A genuine passion for safety and environmental protection, and the motivation to actively promote both on complex projects.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, hands-on mindset.

Interest in working in a project-based, international environment.

Fluent in English (Dutch is a strong asset).

Willingness to travel worldwide and work in a rotational set-up.
