Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, the Associate Electrical Engineer is the registered professional electrical engineer level on East Bay Municipal Utility District’s (EBMUD’s) career ladder. In 2012, EBMUD’s wastewater treatment plant became the first in North America to produce more renewable energy onsite than is needed to run the facility. Power generation is accomplished by converting biogas to electrical power using an energy-efficient, low-emission gas turbine and three gas engines for a combined rated capacity of over 10.5 megawatts.
