The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Government Relations Specialist (Legislative Liaison) within the Governmental Relations Department of the agency.

Performs highly advanced (senior-level) legislative and consultative work. Work involves coordinating activities and serving as a liaison between a state agency and governmental and legislative entities. May supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned by the Government Relations Director and/or the Executive Team.

The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources.

What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be:

· Participates in agency activities related to the legislative session; attends legislative hearings and meetings with legislators, legislative staff, and other legislative liaisons. Additionally, prepare comprehensive summaries and reports of these meetings and hearings.

· Assists in creating fiscal impact statements and drafts background summaries, bill analyses, and other requested documents related to legislation and policy issues.

· Proactively communicates with state and local officials, as well as with other state agencies, to facilitate coordination and collaboration.

· Collaborates with internal subject matter experts within the Texas General Land Office to deliver strategic government relations guidance and insights.

  • Drafts detailed responses to legislative inquiries and meticulously reviews and edits correspondence to ensure accuracy and clarity.
