Equitable is looking for an experienced Billing Analyst to join our Employee Benefits team. This role is responsible for managing key billing and reconciliation processes, including maintaining weekly suspense, credit, and debit balance reports; researching and resolving discrepancies; accurately applying funds; and ensuring timely escheatment in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

The Billing Analyst will oversee the delinquency process by monitoring client lapse statuses and initiating policy terminations for non-payment when necessary. Additionally, the role involves resolving billing tickets within established daily targets and processing billing amendments—such as group updates and policy anniversary changes—to ensure accurate invoicing and financial records. This position will also support enhancements to the collections process to help reduce outstanding debit balances and improve overall efficiency.

What You’ll Be Doing

· Suspense Report

o Create weekly SOX control version of suspense report

o Identify each item on suspense as it relates to TPA, Portability or Regular suspense funds

o Research regular suspense items to be applied to client group or refund back to submitter within 3 months of receipt

o Escheat regular suspense items after 13 months of no client identification

· Credit Balance Report

o Run weekly reports of active and terminated clients with credit balance

§ For active clients—ensure latest invoice is generated and posted

§ For terminated clients—ensure outreach to refund client is completed and refund issued where appropriate, otherwise send for escheatment after 13 months

· Debit Balance Report

o Run weekly report of terminated clients with debit balance

§ Ensure Terminated Entity with Balance emails are systematically being sent out

§ Participate in the evolvement of the collections process for groups that remain with a balance

· Delinquency Process

o Get Bill Lapse Date applied to groups when lapse letters are issued

o Check for groups that have paid current within lapse grace period and remove the lapse status to bill client current

o Submit termination for non-payment on clients that lapse due to non- payment

o Research groups that aren’t lapsed that appear on monthly KPI report

· ServiceNow Ticket Resolution

o Contribute to ServiceNow tickets submitted to billing team, expectation is 1-2 tickets per day during off peak season and 2-3 ticket per day during peak season

· Billing Amendments

o Process Group/Policy Anniversary changes requested by client and review impact the change has to invoice

This position offers a flexible work schedule: it may be fully remote or hybrid. If you are located near one of our offices (e.g., Charlotte, NC or Syracuse, NY), a hybrid schedule with 2–3 days on-site per week is expected to foster collaboration and connection.

The base salary range for this position is $47,000 to $50,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.
