Service Technician (Deployment Support)
at mimic
mimic robotics is a frontier physical AI company building the full stack of general-purpose dexterous manipulation. Founded in 2024 by ETH Zurich researchers, mimic pioneered Video-Action Models for robotics while also developing in-house dexterous hand hardware. Our growing team brings together world-class researchers working across our offices in Zurich and San Francisco.
About the Role
As Mimic Robotics scales deployment of our wearable systems across key industrial partner sites in Europe, we are looking for a hands-on Service Technician (Deployment Support) to help us maintain rock-solid system uptime.
This role will entail acting as our frontline responder for system downtime, remote diagnostic support, and field operations. You will be the technical backbone keeping our deployed systems running smoothly - getting on the phone to diagnose hardware and software issues remotely and where necessary or heading into the field for hands-on support.
Responsibilities
- Frontline System Triage & Remote Support Act as the first point of contact for downtime incidents across deployed sites; perform remote diagnostics, analyze system logs, identify and resolve issues rapidly.
- On-Site Field Interventions Perform day-trip visits to partner sites for physical installation, hardware troubleshooting, system calibration, and hands-on maintenance.
- Customer Interface & Access Coordination Guide client technical teams smoothly through active remote access procedures.
- Proactive Operational Upkeep Conduct regular system health checks, review diagnostic logs, and perform data quality verifications during downtime to prevent field issues before they occur.
- Feedback Loop to R &D Document edge cases, recurring fault patterns, and hardware behaviors in the field to provide clean technical context back to our engineering and development teams.
What You Bring
- Technical Background Educational foundation or practical experience in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Linux Fluency Strong, hands-on comfort navigating Linux terminals, running CLI diagnostic tools, reviewing system logs, and troubleshooting network/system issues remotely via SSH.
- Field Readiness Possess a valid European driver’s license and the flexibility to make frequent day trips to customer sites within a few hours travel time from our Zurich HQ.
- Operational & Uptime Mindset A strong drive for keeping systems running reliably in real-world production environments, with a preference for field problem-solving over R&D software development.
- Structured Problem Solver Calm and methodical under pressure when facing site downtime, with strong customer communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in technical customer support, field application engineering, or hardware-in-the-loop debugging.
- Hands-on familiarity with camera vision systems, embedded systems, or wearable hardware setups.
- Basic conversational German (beneficial for on-site interactions).
What We Offer
- We offer a total compensation package including a competitive yearly base salary and a strong stock option package to make you part of our shared success.
- You will work with the founders from day one, shaping the company and participating in its success from its early stages.
- Surprise team trips, gym subsidy, team breakfasts, dinners and other exciting team activities.
At mimic, you will have the unique opportunity to shape a robotics and AI company from the ground up. With our flat hierarchy, you'll work directly with the founders and some of the most talented individuals in the robotics field. We value diversity and inclusion and encourage everyone to apply, regardless of background, ans we are looking forward to you bringing along your knowledge, personal experiences, and fresh perspectives. Together, we can solve challenges in robotics.
