Title and Summary
Manager, Account Management – Acquiring & Acceptance
Overview:
Mastercard is a global technology company powering the payments industry.
While our heritage is rooted in connecting consumers, merchants, financial
institutions, and governments through one of the world's largest payment
networks, today Mastercard is much more than a card network.
We leverage technology and lead innovation to help customers solve complex
business challenges, accelerate growth, improve security, and deliver better
experiences to consumers and businesses alike.
The Retail & Commerce team in France is seeking a Manager, Account Management
to support Mastercard's growth across the acquiring and acceptance ecosystem.
This role focuses on managing and expanding relationships with a portfolio of
strategic customers, including acquirers, payment service providers (PSPs),
payment facilitators (PayFacs), processors, and payment orchestration
platforms.
Beyond the existing portfolio, the account manager will be able to identify,
engage, and develop relationships with new accounts and strategic prospects,
thus contributing to Mastercard's long-term growth and market expansion.
This position combines strategic account management, consultative sales, and
business development. The successful candidate will develop a deep
understanding of customers' businesses, priorities, and growth ambitions,
identify where Mastercard can create value, and bring together the right
internal expertise to help customers achieve their objectives.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of the payment’s
ecosystem, a passion for relationship building, intellectual curiosity, and
the ability to position Mastercard's broad portfolio of products and services
across payments, cybersecurity, fraud prevention, data & analytics, digital
commerce, and value-added services.
Role & Responsibilities
• Manage and grow relationships with a portfolio of strategic customers across
the acquiring and acceptance ecosystem, including acquirers, PSPs, PayFacs,
processors, and orchestration providers.
• Identify, engage, and develop relationships with new accounts and strategic
prospects.
• Develop a deep understanding of customers' organizations, business models,
competitive environments, strategic priorities, and growth objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships at all levels of customer organizations,
from operational and technical teams to senior executives and C-level decision
makers.
• Act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer challenges and
identifying opportunities where Mastercard can deliver measurable business
value. Positioning Mastercard as a strategic technology partner rather than
solely a payment network provider will be key.
• Identify, qualify, and advance commercial opportunities across Mastercard’s
broad portfolio of products and services.
• Lead customer presentations, business reviews, workshops, and strategic
discussions, tailoring messages to both business and technical audiences.
• Partner closely with various teams within Mastercard (product, cyber,
customer delivery, digital, services) to deliver customer value. Efficiently
navigate a complex global organization.
• Develop business cases, commercial proposals, and executive-level
presentations to support complex sales opportunities and strategic
initiatives.
• Negotiate and execute commercial agreements while ensuring long-term value
creation for both Mastercard and customers.
All About You
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for building long-term
relationships both externally and internally.
• Strong experience within the payments industry, with a solid understanding
of the acquiring ecosystem and the broader payments value chain. Experience
working for an acquirer, PSP, PayFac, processor, payment technology provider
or merchant is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and grow complex customer relationships while
identifying and closing new business opportunities.
• Ability to engage with both business and technical stakeholders and navigate
complex customer organizations.
• Genuine interest in technology and innovation, with the curiosity to
continuously learn about Mastercard's expanding portfolio of solutions beyond
payments.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, with confidence speaking in
front of both small and large audiences.
• Strong project management capabilities and the ability to coordinate
multiple stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to
transform customer challenges into actionable business opportunities.
• Highly proactive and results-oriented, with strong ownership and
accountability; able to drive initiatives through to completion and find
pragmatic solutions to complex challenges.
• Collaborative team player capable of mobilizing cross-functional teams
around customer priorities and business opportunities.
• Contribute to Mastercard's market expansion strategy through prospecting and
the acquisition of new strategic customers.
• Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Master's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
