Sales Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Sales Engineer to support business growth for our machine shop operations. This role bridges the gap between customers and manufacturing by providing technical sales support, reviewing customer requirements, preparing quotations, and coordinating with engineering and production teams to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate has experience in precision machining, CNC manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial components and is comfortable working directly with customers on technical solutions, pricing, and production capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers
  • Review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements
  • Prepare accurate quotations for machining, fabrication, and manufacturing projects
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to assess manufacturability and lead times
  • Recommend machining methods, materials, and process improvements to meet customer requirements
  • Conduct customer visits, presentations, and facility tours as needed
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and project scope
  • Track sales opportunities and maintain CRM records
  • Coordinate project handoff from sales to production
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and resolve technical or commercial issues
  • Stay informed on market trends, machining technologies, and competitor capabilities
  • Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CNC mills, lathes, sheet metal fabrication, or precision machining
  • Familiarity with ISO quality standards and manufacturing workflows
  • CAD/CAM knowledge is a plus
  • Existing relationships within aerospace, medical, automotive, semiconductor, or industrial manufacturing markets preferred

Work Environment

  • Combination of office, shop floor, and customer-site environments
  • Occasional travel for customer meetings, trade shows, and supplier visits
  • Must be comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing setting
