ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
- Develops and executes the agency’s legislative strategy in coordination with executive leadership
- Monitors and analyzes legislation impacting agency missions, programs, and operations
- Prepares testimony, briefings, and legislative correspondence for executive leadership
- Serves as primary liaison to the Texas Legislature, Governor’s Office, Legislative Budget Board, and other governmental entities
- Oversees agency external and internal communications, media relations, and public-facing messaging
- Coordinates responses to legislative and media inquiries with the highest level of discretion
- Advises executive leadership on legislative, policy, and communications matters
- Represents the agency before legislative hearings, interim committees, and stakeholder meetings
- Manages and develops government relations and communications staff
- Performs related work as assigned
- Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
- Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
- Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
- Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
