Job Description:

POSITION: Full-Time Commons Engagement Coordinator (Special Programs Coordinator): Academic Affairs; Haverhill Campus; MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm; Pay Grade 4.

SUMMARY: The Commons Engagement Coordinator coordinates the day-to-day operations, programming, and student engagement initiatives of the Commons across Northern Essex Community College's Haverhill campus. Reporting to the Associate Dean responsible for Libraries, Tutoring, and the Haverhill Commons, the Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and Academic Affairs leadership to create welcoming and inclusive experiences that connect students with academic resources, faculty, peers, and meaningful opportunities for learning and engagement. The Commons comprise technology-enabled academic gathering spaces designed to foster connection, curiosity, and student success through opportunities to study, create, collaborate, and engage with the intellectual life of the college. Responsibilities include coordinating daily operations across Commons locations in buildings B and C, supporting events and programs at both campuses, assisting students in navigating campus resources, maintaining communications and publicity efforts, and contributing to the assessment and continuous improvement of academic engagement services and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties for this position require the incumbent to:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Haverhill Commons spaces, across the campus, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered environment.
  • Serve as a responsive resource for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by providing information, referrals, and assistance related to college services and resources.
  • Assist students in navigating academic and student support services, including connecting students with other campus resources as appropriate.
  • Coordinate faculty office hours, student organization activities, and other scheduled uses of the Commons.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and Academic Affairs leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate workshops, events, and other academic engagement initiatives that promote student learning and belonging.
  • Develop and maintain the Commons programming calendar and assist in the promotion of programs and services through social media, websites, Navigate communications, and other marketing materials.
  • Utilize data and assessment practices to evaluate participation, identify emerging student needs, and inform future planning efforts.
  • Prepare reports related to Commons operations, programming, and student engagement activities.
  • Maintain inventories and coordinate the procurement of supplies and resources necessary to support the Commons operations.
  • Participate in college committees, professional development activities, and required training opportunities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, including work with other Academic Engagement departments on campus.
