Engineering Scheduler / JIRA Administrator CTSC
Summary:
Advanced Technology Systems Company (ATSC) is seeking an Engineering Scheduler
/ JIRA Administrator to join our growing team in Gilbert, AZ. The Engineering
Scheduler / JIRA Administrator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and
optimizing engineering schedules, managing Agile workflows, administering JIRA
projects, and ensuring accurate tracking of tasks, deliverables, risks, and
performance metrics across multiple engineering teams. This position plays a
critical role in supporting program execution, integrated master scheduling,
engineering coordination, and reporting to both internal leadership and
external customers.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and update engineering schedules, milestones, and work
breakdown structures (WBS) in alignment with program requirements and
deadlines.
• Administer and configure JIRA projects, workflows, dashboards, permissions,
issue types, automation, and fields to support engineering, test,
manufacturing, and program teams.
• Create, manage, and optimize Agile boards (Scrum and Kanban), sprint
schedules, backlog organization, and team velocity tracking.
• Maintain the engineering Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), ensuring
alignment with procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and test schedules.
• Work with engineering leads to define task durations, dependencies, resource
requirements, and critical path elements.
• Develop custom JIRA dashboards and reports for Program Management,
Engineering Leadership, PMO, and customer reporting.
• Track engineering deliverables, design reviews, test activities, fixture
development, integration events, and verification progress.
• Support configuration control through structured workflow management and
traceability of engineering changes.
• Identify schedule risks, resource constraints, slip indicators, and
mitigation options; elevate issues to leadership proactively.
• Produce weekly, monthly, and milestone-based schedule reports, burndown
charts, risk registers, and status summaries.
• Support engineering readiness for customer reviews including PDR, CDR, TRR,
FAI, FAT, SAT, and IPRs.
• Assist technical teams in planning, sequencing, and documenting workflows
for design, testing, integration, troubleshooting, and manufacturing
activities.
• Train new engineering team members on JIRA usage, workflow policies, and
schedule expectations.
• Maintain consistency across engineering schedules, ensuring data integrity
and alignment with PMO and Quality processes.
• Support continuous improvement of scheduling, workflow processes, automation
rules, and engineering reporting standards.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related
field.
• 7+ years of experience in engineering scheduling, project coordination,
Agile administration,automation within JIRA environments, or JIRA
administration.
• Handson experience with JIRA project configuration, workflow design,
dashboards, and reporting.
• Strong working knowledge of project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera,
Smartsheet, or equivalent).
• Understanding of engineering lifecycle processes including design,
integration, testing, manufacturing, and configuration management.
• Ability to interpret engineering tasks, dependencies, and technical
workflows.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and collaboration tools.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to
identify schedule discrepancies and propose solutions.
• Must be able to pass a detailed background investigation and meet criteria
for a U.S. Government issued security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or government contracted engineering
environments.
• Experience supporting Agile development teams in a hardware software
integrated environment.
• Experience generating engineering KPI reports (e.g., velocity, cycle time,
throughput, defect rates).
• Familiarity with configuration management, change control, and design review
processes.
• Experience integrating JIRA with Confluence, GitLab, or automated CI/CD
pipelines.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
• Work is typically performed in an office or engineering environment.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required
to sit, stand, talk, hear, and use computers and office equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
