Responsible for respiratory care of patients as ordered by physician, according to established standards and practices. Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Ensures patients and/or caregivers can effectively operate and maintain
equipment. Performs clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry.
2. May need to perform on-call duties as needed.
3. Provides and operates various types of respiratory care equipment
including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea
monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
4. Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent
information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.
5. Performs other duties as required
Required:
1. Associates Degree required.
2. BLS Certification
3. State professional license to provide respiratory care/services to
patients in New Jersey. NY and PA licenses preferred.
